How to organise a Pro Clubs team
A Pro Clubs team doesn’t hold together on talent alone. It holds together on a core group that turns up, clear roles and a rhythm everyone knows. This guide brings together the essentials.
Start with the core
Before you think about a starting XI, think about who actually turns up. A stable club starts with six to eight players whose schedules line up and who want to play together every week.
Fill the key positions first: goalkeeper, two centre-backs and a defensive midfielder. These are the positions where a lack of routine shows most, and the hardest to fill at the last minute.
Set roles from day one
When everyone does everything, nobody does anything. Agree who decides what, even in a small club.
- Owner: responsible for the club, its members and the public page.
- Manager: handles the day-to-day, the calendar and invites.
- Coach: schedules training, picks the XI and prepares for matches.
- Analyst: fills in and validates the match sheets.
- Player: answers attendance and plays.
In VOC, each role has its own permissions. If your club needs a different role, such as a media officer, you can create a custom one.
Set a training rhythm
Rhythm matters more than quantity. Two fixed sessions a week, always on the same day and at the same time, work better than four arranged at the last minute.
How many sessions a week?
For a team playing in a league, two training sessions and one match a week is a good starting point. Use one for set pieces and organisation, and the other for match play with the full squad.
How to make sure people turn up
Ask everyone for an answer: in, maybe or out. A reminder the day before for anyone who hasn’t answered sorts out most cases without a single message in the group chat.
Record every match
Memory plays tricks. Without a record, your impression of the last match outweighs the whole season. A simple sheet for every match changes that.
What to put on the sheet
- Who played and in which position
- A rating from 1 to 10 for each player
- Goals, assists and MVP
Fill in the sheet straight after the match, while it’s still fresh. The person who validates it should always be the same, so that ratings stay comparable.
Use the data to pick your XI
After a few weeks of match sheets, patterns start to emerge: who keeps their rating steady, who performs better at home, which pairs win more when they play together.
Don’t trade the coach’s eye for the numbers. Use them to confirm what you see and to have an honest conversation with whoever is left out.
Give your club a home
A club with its own page is easier to take seriously: by opponents, by new players and by its own members. Squad, results and news at an address you can share.
In VOC, the public page is ready the moment you create the club and shows only what you decide to publish.
